Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarship, family service and involvement in the community. His first family is that he's the youngest out of nine kids who were raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. Also, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in all of the nation. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third season in the year 1975. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service was ten-hours per week as a volunteer in college. After college, he moved to Tampa and played nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. He then began his professional career. By 1988, he became an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 young stars across the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. He joined the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
